"Firsts": Fun, Faith, and Food

Many "firsts" have been accompanied with moving to Ohio. Last Friday we had the opportunity to go to our "first" NFL game. We watched the Cleveland Browns versus the Detroit Lions. Sadly, the Cleveland Browns lost but at least it was only pre-season (hence the reason we were able to go), but we did have a great time dressing up in brown attire to support our team and watching the sunset at the stadium that is set right on the shore of Lake Erie. Beautiful!

Go McCoy!! The first year quarterback did awesome.

Oh the big hair in all its glory! Did I mention we were right next to the lake?

Our next"first" included driving two and a half hours to go to the temple rather than just five minutes, attending a session at the Columbus, Ohio temple, and then eating the most delicious ice cream known to man. This ice cream was featured on Oprah's favorite things, it is called Grader's ice cream. She has it delivered to her house (so you know it has to be mouthwatering good)! Thank you Jeff and Ashley for introducing us to the newest thing that will add to our love handles! If you are in the Columbus area you must stop by and get their special: Black Raspberry with chocolate chips or should I say delicious chunks.

b I loved seeing a temple again! It has been way too long!

The last "first" for this post will shock everyone that knows me well. I baked!! Yes, it is true, I followed a recipe and ended up with a fabulous S'more product. It was delicious (I have witnesses if anyone does not believe me) and I cannot wait to make it during the snowy months so we can have S'mores all year round!!

Marc had to take a picture of the disaster I was making!

That concludes our "firsts" for this post but stay tuned, I am more than positive that there are more to come!!

One Year Down...Eternity to Go

August 12, 2011 was our one year anniversary! Marc surprised me with a weekend full of activities. I was impressed with his planning skills. They have come along way in a year!

We started our night with a wonderful dinner at Hard Rock Cafe where I was able to satisfy my craving for Mac and Cheese. (I don't think my taste buds have matured yet. Maybe that's why I hate fish) After dinner we changed into our Indians apparel and walked over to Progressive Field.
Us at the Indians game

They won!!

It was Elvis night at the game so the fireworks were to set to Elvis music. They were seriously the best fireworks I have ever seen (sorry Stadium of Fire maybe next year).

That night I came home to a clean house, flowers, and a BEAUTIFUL necklace! Marc really out did himself; but when doesn't he?

The next morning we headed out to Presque Isle in Pennsylvania. We rode bikes around the island and then treated ourselves to ice cream.

It was a fabulous weekend and it was great to watch our wedding movie and look at our pictures and remember our special day! In some ways, I am amazed that it has been a year already, but in others I feel like we have been married forever. It is so fun having someone that knows EVERYTHING about you and still loves you! Marc, I love you more than I think you know (I should say it more often). Thanks for all of the many, many, many crazy and ridiculous things you do for me and for still treating me like a princess. Our first anniversary was fabulous!! It is my turn to plan next year and I have a lot to live up to.

Exploring in Ohio

Before Marc started school we decided to explore Ohio and spend time with each other before studying consumed our lives.

Our first stop was Mentor Beach. The lake water was not as clear as ocean water but at least Ohio has a beach. Ohio one and Utah zero (at least for this post).

After playing in the water and relaxing on the beach we took a walk to this light house. Unfortunately, the tide was high so we could not get closer to it. Good thing we have four years left here!

Our next stop Chagrin Falls. We heard about this place from our friends and decided to check it out. It was a quaint little town with a natural waterfall running right through the middle of it. This place reminded of Jackson Hole with all of its shops lined up on both sides of the road. As you can see by my hair it was VERY humid the day we went.

The natural waterfall that runs through the middle of the town.

Our next stop was Fairport Harbor. Yes, another beach! What can we say we both love the warm weather and working on our tans that were lacking this summer. We were lucky enough to go with our sweet neighbors the Bludorns.

So far Ohio has exceeded my expectations. There are more things to do here than I originally thought. I am excited to keep exploring! After reading this post, I know you are all dying to take a trip to Ohio and do all of the fun things here. Lucky for you Marc and I have TWO extra bedrooms that would love some visitors. Call us anytime!!

The Journey Begins

I figured there was no better way to start our blog then to write about the day everything became official. On August 5, 2011 our journey at Case Western began. Marc and sixty nine other dental students received their white coats at the official white coat ceremony. The event was incredible and a lot of work was put into making it special for those who have worked so hard to be accepted into dental school.

Leaving to go to the white coat ceremony

Putting on the white coat

He's official!! (you can't see it very well in this picture but he was beaming)

Class of 2015

Me and the future Dr. Harrison (so proud of him)

I hope you are all ready to hop aboard the Harrison Happenings blog and travel with us through the crazy journey of the next four years (or should I say forty eight months!)
